CASSOPOLIS - Samuel Gorbacz of Cassopolis, MI, died on September 3, 2014. He was born to the late Samuel and Julia Gorbacz in South Bend, IN, on July 16, 1926. Samuel is survived by brothers, Walter Gorbacz of Temecula, CA, and Eugene Gorbacz of South Bend, IN; a sister, Ann Booker of Columbiana, OH; and a stepdaughter, Jill Heavner of Osceola, IN. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Gorbacz from South Bend, IN, and a wife, Regina (Zalas) from Osceola, IN. Samuel graduated from Washington High School in South Bend before attending the University of Oregon, where he played football on a scholarship. He then joined the Navy and was on active duty during WW II. He worked for Continental Can Co. as a mechanical engineer. Samuel retired to Shavehead Lake in Cassopolis, Michigan, during his later years. He was a man who enjoyed life, including golf, fishing, football, and playing the lottery. Samuel has donated his body to Indiana University and there will be no funeral services. Published in South Bend Tribune on Sept. 11, 2014
