Arthur Joseph Buda, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Chula Vista, CA, on Friday, April 7, 2006, surrounded by his family. He was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on March 11, 1923, to Margaret and Enrico Buda. He earned his BS at Indiana University, where he was a member of the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity, and his MS at Ball State University. He had resided in Mishawaka, IN, until 1966 when he moved his family to Chula Vista, CA. He was a teacher in Mishawaka and the Mount Empire Unified School Districts and a substitute teacher in the San Ysidro School District after his retirement. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish as well as the Elks, the I-men's Association and DiAmici's Club of Mishawaka. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Ostrowski Buda; his children, Kevin (Diane) Buda of Mount View, CA, Jody (Donald) Bottger of Ramona, CA, and Maureen (Oscar) Moreno of Chula Vista, CA; his grandchildren, Rebecca Bottger, Jeremy Bottger and Sophia Moreno; his brother, Fred Buda of Mishawaka, IN; his sister-in-law, Suzanna Ostrowski Merrick of Springfield, IL; and his niece, Melinda Sue Merrick of Champaign, IL. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. June 10 in St. Joseph Church, Mishawaka. Private inturment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
