SOUTH BEND - Margaret “Margie” Mary Janiak, 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Margie was born January 4, 1929 in South Bend to the late John and Agnes (Sopczynski) Sikorski. On March 31, 1951 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Margie married Eugene Janiak; he preceded her in death on October 9, 1993. Margaret was also preceded in death by her sisters, Florence Cornell, Lucille Sikorski, Rita Herdus, and Joan Boudreau; and brothers, Roman, Theodore, and Richard Sikorski. Survivors of Margie include her daughters, Christine Janiak Parker & Carolyn Janiak, both of South Bend; grandchildren, Pamela (Robert) Whisman and Bridget (Lynn) Harner; great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Lincoln, Zane, Derek, Sarah, and Jeremy; and sisters, Barbara Revell, Clara Niemier, Agnes Mendell, and Annette (Ted) Noell. Margie worked as a waitress at Robertson's Department Store in the Tea Room. She was a very devoted Catholic. Margie loved spending time with family and friends, gardening, and playing her organ. She also loved Polish music, dancing, and food. Margie was known by many as “Auntie Margie” and had a great sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and always said, “I'm glad you got to see me”. Her family meant the world to her, she will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held 2:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00pm. A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00am Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
