Rosemarie (Ferraro) Owsianowski
August 19th, 1936 - December 18th, 2017
SOUTH BEND, IN - Rosemarie (Ferraro) Owsianowski, 81 of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Monday, December 18th, 2017 in The Sanctuary at Holy Cross. Rosemarie was born on August 19th, 1936 to the late Rocco and Mary (Giangrasso) Ferraro. Rosemarie is survived by her children, Lynn Owsianowski of South Bend, Peter (Nancy) Owsianowski of South Bend, Christopher (Jennifer) Owsianowski of New Carlisle, IN, 8 Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Owsianowski sisters, Martha (Ferraro) Smith, Catherine (Ferraro) Long, Theresa (Ferraro) Miller and brothers, Patrick Ferraro and James Ferraro. Family was everything to Rosemarie. She was an exceptional bon vivant and delighted in cooking great food and hosting gatherings for her family and friends. In 1980, she undertook genealogical research on the Ferraro family history. The finished product was lovingly compiled, printed and presented (cover art by daughter Lynn) to numerous attendees at a large family reunion held in July of that year. In 2004, she reestablished vibrant communications with “long lost” relatives in Italy and Canada. She loved visiting Italy or cooking up feasts for her good friends at Jeannie’s Bar in South Bend. She was always up for a good Euchre or Poker game, a deep conversation or simply enjoying La Dolce Vita. Many of us lost a good friend, confidant and Mother. In lieu of a traditional funeral Rosemarie wanted everyone to gather in a celebration of life, good food, good conversation and music. A memorial celebration of her life will take place at a later date. ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net. Memorial donations may be sent to River Bend Cancer Services https://www.riverbendcancerservices.org/ or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/
