SOUTH BEND - Robert J. "Bob" Gurbick, 82, residing in South Bend, passed away at 6:54 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 18, 1927, in South Bend, IN, as the son of Nicholas and Lillian (Krzesyewski) Gurbick, and had lived here his entire life. On November 22, 1947, in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Felgar. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann of 61 years. Also surviving are two daughters, Gayle Hope (John) Jones of Elkhart, Cheryl (Anthony) Veger of Lakeville, and a son, Michael (LouAnn) Gurbick of South Bend. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Gurbick; and by a nephew, Timothy Gurbick, both of South Bend. Mr. Gurbick retired from management in the Aircraft Division of the Bendix Corp., South Bend. He was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School, a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #5521, South Bend. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was active with the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, and supported the Gibualt School through Knights of Columbus. Bob was a family man. He loved to spend time with his family at home and at the lake, fishing. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9th, in St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Rev. John Delaney will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Robert J.
