SOUTH BEND - Reynold M. Derda, 80, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born on June 6, 1937, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Selma (Karmolinski) Derda and was a lifelong area resident. On April 16, 1966 he married Dorothy Sellenberg, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Debbie (Brad) Williams of Union, MI and Mike R. (Susan) Derda of Lacey, WA; ten grandchildren, Taylor, Christian, Evan, Bailey, Jessica, Olivia, Kennedy, Ian, Miles, and Isabella; and by a sister, Aurie (Elmer) Kohost of Albany, MN. Mr. Derda worked as a Draftsman for Bendix/Allied Signal, then Hobart Engineering. Later he worked as an Insurance Agent for Metropolitan Insurance, before retiring in 2001. He was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend and a United States Air Force veteran. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilber Street, South Bend, with burial to follow in Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
