SOUTH BEND - Judith Elaine Grzegorek, 75, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at The Hearth at Juday Creek. Judith was born on September 6, 1942 in Glendora, Michigan to Harry H. Dies and Helen (Amen) Dies, and had lived in South Bend since 1970, coming from New Carlisle, Indiana. She retired from Memorial Hospital, where she was employed in the Admitting Department for 16 years. On November 14, 1970 in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend, she married Donald Harry Grzegorek, who survives. Other survivors include her son, Brett (Maggie) Grzegorek of Mishawaka, Indiana; her granddaughter, Marissa Velez of Mishawaka, Indiana; her sister, Joyce Penney of Vergas, Minnesota; one niece, Stephanie Penney of Vergas, Minnesota; and two nephews, Tim (Marilyn) Penney of Fargo, North Dakota and Scott (Joy) Penney of Frazee, Minnesota. Judith was very active in group fitness in her younger years. She enjoyed taking long walks with her husband and their dogs on the river walk near their home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T. Thursday, November 16, 2017 in the New Carlisle Community Church, 201 W. Michigan St., New Carlisle, Indiana 46552, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.
