Ignaz Mittermayer, son of John & Frances Theiner Mittermayer came to the United States in 1904 or 1905. On April 23, 1906 at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, he, then 27, married a young widow, Mary Yandl, daughter of Peter & Anna Beyer Grabner. They had six children: (in birth order) Frances, Margaret, Peter John, Joanna Marie, Matthew Ignaz, & Henry Carl Mittermayer. Ignaz operated an insurance and travel business in South Bend, and he was a member of the Deutscher Fortbildungs Verein and of St. Mary's Catholic Church. His wife died in 1927. In 1951, two months before Ignaz passed away, he moved to the home of their daughter Margaret, a nurse living and working in St. Joseph, Berrien County, Michigan. His funeral mass was held at St Mary's Catholic Church in South Bend.
