[N8304] Helen Karaszewski
Dec. 9, 1917 - Feb. 17, 2016
GRANGER - Helen Karaszewski, 98, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in her daughter's home. Helen was born December 9, 1917 in East Chicago to the late John and Florence (Almason) Tarasut. On May 31, 1941 in East Chicago, IN Helen married John Karaszewski, he preceded her in death on April 23, 1999. Helen was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Taylor, Florence Braga, Jenny Pumnea and Virginia Szymanski. Survivors include daughter, Elaine Karaszewski of Granger, IN, son, Terry Karaszewski of Mishawaka, IN, grandchildren Dawn (Lisa), Elena, Kirk and Kerri Karaszewski. Helen was a parishioner of Saint Pius X Catholic Church. Helen was a warrior and the strongest of women. She was an inspiration to many. As our mom and grandma she will be sorely missed. We watched her sleep and prayed that the peace that rested on her face would last. We listened to her speak and hoped that we would always hear her words, her voice. We watched her fight so hard and prayed that our tears would dry, but we knew the time had come. You told us you had a great visit but it was time for you to go home. So for all the tears you dried, the times you helped, the love you gave, the sacrifices you made, we grew up well. We love you and thank you more than you could imagine. We watched you smile the other day. It was triumph that we saw. And her Master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Visitation for Helen will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 22, 2016 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd where a Vigil will be prayed at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the funeral home where visitation will be 1 hour prior to the start of the funeral. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545. The family would like to thank the staff from Dujarie House for their wonderful care and special touches.
