Priscilla “Pat” May Gubi

NILES - Priscilla “Pat” May Gubi, 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at home. She was the only daughter of Stephen and Virginia (Hunt) Gubi, who have preceded her in death. She graduated from Central High School, South Bend, in 1960. During high school she was employed at the downtown South Bend Library. After graduation she became a medical transcriptionist at Elkhart General Hospital and went on to become a medical records secretary at Parkview Hospital in Plymouth, IN. She then worked for Vactor O'Connell, MD, in Bourbon, IN, for over 30 years as a medical secretary and an executive assistant. Pat attended Indiana University at South Bend with a major in History and minors in Fine Arts, History of Art, Religious Studies and Political Science; she presented her paper on Chinese Women at the Women's Study Conference at Indiana University, Kokomo, IN, in 1989. She received the honor of Outstanding History Student award of Excellence in 1991. She was the recipient of the IUSB Club Scholarship Award, the John Brown Award, and was on the Dean's List on numerous occasions. While attending IUSB, she became a member of Phi Alpha Theta, American Beta Chapter, and she was also a member of Alpha Sigma Lamba-EtaNeu. Pat was a member of the South Bend Genealogical Society. She was a descendant and member of the Hollingsworth Heritage Society. She loved nature, dogs, cats and quiet. She loved to read and continued to study history and art throughout her life. She enjoyed music and old movies and theater. Pat was a member of the English Connections, the Niles Piece maker's Quilt Group, the British Book Club and a Tea Group. She leaves special friends and relatives and their families. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, is in charge of the final arrangements. As per Pat's wishes, there will be no services.
