SOUTH BEND - Joan Haney, 85, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Joan was born January 6, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Edward and Clara (Budzinski) Buczynski. On September 2, 1950, Joan married John Haney, who preceded her in death. Joan was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Buczynski. Survivors of Joan include her children, Pamela (George) Kovatch, Patricia Schlarb and John (Amy) Haney; grandchildren, Debra Akey, Sarah Haney, and Nicholas Haney; great-grandchildren, Danielle Fredrickson and Chad Edstrom; and sister, Betty Reed of the Villages, FL. Joan retired from Raco. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Joan enjoyed watching Cubs games, playing bingo, and working in her flower garden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 26th, at 11:00 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with a one hour visitation prior to the Mass. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628; or to a charity of your choice .
