SOUTH BEND Helen S. Zell, 91, of St. Pauls Health Care Center, formerly of 1202 N. Brookfield St., South Bend, Ind., died on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 9:55 p.m. in St. Pauls Health Care Center. Mrs. Zell was born on Nov. 4, 1904, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On Oct. 16, 1923, in South Bend, as Helen S. Zakrzewski, she married Sylvester J. Zell, who passed away on Sept. 8, 1978. Mrs. Zell was the beloved mother of JoAnn Isban of Plymouth, Ind.; Elizabeth Klaybor of South Bend, Ind.; Sylvester Zell, Jr. of Dearborn, Mich.; Ronald Zell of Hampton, Va.; and James Zell of Virginia Beach, Va.; and she was the beloved grandmother of 14 grandchildren; and the beloved great-grandmother of 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Zell was a member of Holy Cross Church, the Rosary and Altar Society of the church and Holy Cross Harvest House. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., today, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Belinski, C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
