SOUTH BEND - Chester B. Botka, 84, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in Brentwood at LaPorte. Chester was born on April 25, 1928 in South Bend to Louis A. and Hattie (Szymanowski) Botka, and was a lifelong resident. He retired from the Indiana Toll Road, where he was employed for 30 years. On May 4, 1963, in St. Adalbert Church, he married Gertrude Pajakowski, who preceded him in death on August 4, 2006. Survivors include his sister, Alice Janiszczak of South Bend, IN; four brothers, Richard Botka, Clem Botka, and John (Marilyn) Botka, all of South Bend, IN, and Eugene (Nancy) Botka of Granger, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Chester was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Kulwicki; his brother, Louis Botka, Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Alice Botka, Eleanor Botka, and Betty Botka; and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Janiszczak and Robert Kulwicki. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2012 in St. Adalbert Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Chester was a member of St. Adalbert Parish, M.R. Falcons, and Z.B. Falcons. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice .
