Lloyd J. Fidler, 85, of Lafayette, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, in the emergency room at Home Hospital. Born Aug. 25, 1921, to the late Lloyd Fidler Sr. and Grace Fidler in Tippecanoe County, he was a graduate of Wea High School and Purdue University School of Agriculture. He was a veteran, serving with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He was in a small group that built a scale model of Normandy Beach that was studied prior to the D-Day invasion. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart and battle citations. His marriage was to Gladys S. Kuzmanovich on Dec. 24, 1947, and she died April 13, 2005. Mr. Fidler was a farmer and senior manufacturing engineer for TRW Ross Gear until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of American Legion Post 11 and a life member of Masonic Lodge 492, Scottish Rite, Elks Lodge 143 and Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are a son, Doug Fidler (wife: Tammy) of Lafayette; and three sisters, Ruth Hazelbaker and Betty Campbell, both of Lafayette, and Judy Waldron of Edna Mills. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Aaron, Cody and Samantha Fidler, all of Lafayette. Preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Prather.
