Indianapolis Star 8/23/1932

South Bend, Ind., Aug. 23.-The board of public safety today discharged unconditionally four police officers following their trial on charges of accepting gifts from a prisoner while he was under arrest and locked in the city jail They are Paul Polinski, Julius De-rose, Claude Blake and Frank Kolos-czar. The charges were brought by Arthur J. Walsh, tobacco salesman, who said that while he had been in jail the morning of July 28, his supply of stock had been looted by police. He had offered samples of his goods to the officers, giving them permission to take them from his truck, but on his return he discovered that a quantity of goods was missing in addition to the samples. Walsh had been arrested by Koios-czar and Polinski on charges of drunkenness and driving without lights and with no muffler. The charge of drunkenness was not pressed against Walsh.
