WALKERTON - Edgar Wiktorowski, 86, of Goshen, formerly of Walkerton, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008, in the Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne. Mr. Wiktorowski was born on January 27, 1922, in Crumstown, and had been a lifelong resident of Walkerton. On August 29, 1942, in South Bend, he married Julia Ann Molnar who survives. Along with his wife of 66 years, Julia Ann, survivors include one daughter, Judy Ann (Butch) Johnson of Goshen; one son, Steve (Donna) Wiktorowski of Goshen; six grandchildren, Michael, Michele, Shawn, Juli, Troy and Erin; seven great-grandchildren, Erica, Collin, Brooke-Lynn, Noah, Hannah, Andrew and Allison; and one great-great-grandson, Jacob. Mr. Wiktorowski retired in 1983 after 35 years of employment with Bendix Corporation in the sheet metal department. He was a member of Bendix Local #9 for 61 years. After retirement, he enjoyed his association with AFLAC in sales and especially valued the relationships he established over the years in helping others. Mr. Wiktorowski was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where he had served as a lay minister for many years. He served his country proudly and was inducted into the United States Army in November 1942, served two years in the European Theatre and was stationed in England, Belgium and France. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. Mr. Wiktorowski had been a lifetime member of American Legion Post 189 in Walkerton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville. Rev. Tina Velthuizen will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 p.m. today, Dec. 17th, in the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services on Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Edgar Wiktorowski may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674; or to the American Lung Association, 9445 Delegate Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
