David Alex Horvath
September 21, 1941 - August 17, 2013
South Bend - David A. Horvath, 71, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 in his residence. David was born September 21, 1941 in South Bend to the late Alex and Alice (Pawlowski) Horvath. David is also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ellianna J. Sterry. On November 25, 1961 in St. Stephen Catholic Church, David married Susan (Hanley) Horvath , she survives along with their children, Jeffrey (Denise) Horvath of Mishawaka, Jennifer Leigh Mikesell of Mishawaka, and Jason (Erin) Horvath of Granger; grandchildren, Justin, Brittney, Jamison (Elizabeth) , Kasandra (Amado), Joshua, and step-grandson, Zach; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jaiden, and Liam; sister, Barbara M. (Norm) Pride of South Bend, brother, Carl S. (Betty Lou) Horvath of South Bend. David served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from the Commercial Union & American Family Insurance after 35 years of service. David was a parishioner of Cathedral of St. Matthew, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #553. The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the nurses at Hematology Oncology at Memorial Hospital for their loving care and support. Visitation for David will be 2:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME-IRELAND ROAD, 1827 E. Ireland Rd. where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Thursday, August 22, 2013 in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
