Our beautiful mother, Leila M. Baranyai Lawson passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022. She was the only child of George M. and Anna Marie Baranyai of Mishawaka and South Bend, Indiana and Niles, Michigan. “Lee” was married to William L. Lawson who preceded her in death. They resided in Inverness, IL, Niles, MI and Bonita Springs, FL over their 33 year marriage playing golf, traveling, and celebrating with family and friends whenever they could; especially at The Brooks in Florida and Barron Lake in Michigan! She was a proud graduate of IUPUI and Marian College and taught many years in Indianapolis elementary schools. She was a lifelong Hoosier fan; loudly rooting for the IU basketball team until their loss in this year’s NCAA tournament. Mom, G’ma Bear, GiGi is loved and survived by her 4-K’s and their families: Karl Brauer (Carol), Kurt Brauer, Kim Brauer Goss (Rick) and Kent Brauer (Mikie); grandchildren Douglas Brauer (Heather) and their son, Ethan, Jill Rhone (Braxton) and their children, Barron and Brynn, Elizabeth Martz (Jason) and their children Grayson and Camdyn, Andy Goss (Ali), Evan Goss, Amanda Brauer (Rowan Richardson), Alyssa Frame (John) and their children, Michael, Gabriel, Micah, Celeste and John. She also leaves behind her cherished first cousins: Cleora Kelsch and Ciretta Coty and their families. A mass celebrating mom’s life will be held at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Ft. Myers, Florida on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:45am. Visitation and brunch reception will immediately follow. A future celebration will be held in Niles, Michigan with details to come. Since we are in the Season of Lent, no flowers are to be sent to the church. Actually, mom would just want each of you to reach out a helping hand to someone in need.
