Roland (Coach Rollie) Lichnerowicz, 66 of Vandalia, MI passed away on Saturday March 18th in his home. He was born March 19, 1956 to Jack and Margaret (Snider) Lichnerowicz in South Bend, IN. Rollie lived in South Bend until 1993 when he moved on to Donnell Lake in Vandalia, MI, where he became the first president of the Donnell Lake Conservation Club. He also sat on the Penn Township Sewer and Water Authority and the Tax Review Board. He was a 1975 graduate of LaSalle High School where he was a member of the football, track and wrestling teams. Following his graduation from LaSalle High School, Rollie became an employee of the South Bend Community School Corporation where he was a coach throughout the 80s and 90s. While at LaSalle High School he was the assistant football coach under 3 different head coaches, head soccer coach and head wrestling coach. He then took his talents to John Adams High School as the head wrestling coach. Rollie was also a long-time employee of Burkhart Advertising until sustaining a career ending injury. On May 20th, 1995 he married Jeri Ann Greene. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2019. He was also preceded in death by both parents and brothers Juan and Mark Lichnerowicz. He is survived by his sister Connie (Mike) Szymczak of South Bend, a son Gary Lee Jones of FL, four sisters-in-law Susie Lichnerowicz, Sherry Haselden, Jean Goss, Darlene Nelund, and many nieces, and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Rollie’s family would like to thank Sherry for the wonderful care she provided to Rollie. A visitation will be held from 1-4pm Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N.
