Born in Ludwikowo,Poznania,Poland. After emigrating, worked in copper mines near Duluth MN and Superior MI, coming to South Bend around 1874. Was a railroad worker who, in his spare time, helped build St Hedwig Church.In 1875, married Marion Napieralska in St Patrick's Church. Worked 46 years at Oliver Farm Equip.

Ludwikowo - a village in Poland, located in the Wielkopolska province , in the district of Poznan' , in the municipality of Mosina . In the years 1975-1998 the town administratively belonged to the province of Poznan . The village is located about 25 km from Poznan' and about 5 km from Mosiny . In the years 1898-1926 in the village there was a house Rehab and restaurant "Ludwikowo". As a result of the controversial acquisition was closed and turned into a hospital for tuberculosis, which caused great debate in the press Poznan. The village is located - forming part of the Centre for Pulmonology and Thoracic them.
