SOUTH BEND - Mary M. Kosik, 98, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2011, in Cardinal Nursing Center. Mary was born on January 29, 1913, in South Bend, to Steve and Barbara (Varga) Vargo. She was employed by Ball Band and the Town Tower Motel. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Norman) Pratt of South Bend; three grandchildren, Norman E. (Valerie) Pratt Jr., Richard W. (Vera) Pratt and Lisa M. (Garrett Uhlemann) Pratt; and nine great-grandchildren, Ryan A. Pratt, Martina Pratt, Dustin Pratt, Anastasia Pratt, Cody Pratt, Branden Pratt, Kendrick Pratt, Ashley Pratt and Austin Uhlemann. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen Horvath and Elizabeth Lipowski; and three brothers, John Vargo, Joseph Vargo and Peter Vargo. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 23, 2011, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6-8 today in the funeral home, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Lights Hospice.
