SOUTH BEND - Ervin C. Zalas, 79, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 11:10 p.m. in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. Ervin was born on February 8, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Helen (Bolka) Zalas. He is survived by his two sisters, Henrietta Sideritz and Rita Derda, both of South Bend; two brothers, Benjamin Zalas of Oshkosh, WI, and Arthur Zalas of South Bend; and many nieces and nephews. Ervin managed the Army/Navy Discount store for over 30 years, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of Central High School and was a member of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Church.
