Marianne E. Doran, 92, passed away on Thursday morning, March 24, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. She was born on July 5, 1929 in South Bend to George and Eleanor (Keller) Wack, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 20, 1958 in South Bend, Marianne married John “Jack” Edward Doran, who preceded her in death on December 14, 2011. Marianne is survived by her six children, Maribeth (Tom) Curry of Concord Township, OH; Edward Doran of Smyrna, GA; James (Kimberly) Doran of Chicago, IL; Kathleen Childers of Fort Wayne, IN; Meg (Frank) Rotundo of Fort Wayne, IN; and Amy Doran of Fort Wayne, IN; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Joanne (Ray) Gans of Oro Valley, AZ; John Wack of Wheeling, WV; and Marge Farmer of South Bend, IN. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marianne was preceded in death by her two brothers, Thomas Wack and Dr. James Wack. Marianne attended St. Joseph Academy in South Bend and graduated from Siena Heights College in Adrian, MI. She was an Adrian Dominican Sister for ten years, during which time she earned a master’s degree in history from Loyola University Chicago. Marianne served as an advocate at the Marriage Tribunal for the Diocese of Fort Wayne/South Bend. She was a lifelong resident of the South Bend area and a longtime member of St. Matthew Cathedral where she was a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir. Marianne was involved for many years in Catholic Charities and served as chair of the Christ Child Society. She was also a member of the American Canon Law Society and the St. Joseph Bar Association Wives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, March 29th at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am on Wednesday at the church prior to Mass. Contributions in memory of Marianne E. Doran may be donated to Christ Child Society, 2366 Miracle Lane, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221.
