MISHAWAKA - Betty M. (Tetzlaff) Johnson, 88, a lifelong resident of South Bend/Mishawaka, passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at LaPorte-IU Medical Center, LaPorte, IN. Mrs. Johnson was born on May 15, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Harry and Daisy Tetzlaff. She was married to Gerald L. Snyder, who preceded her in death in 1983, and Charles J. Johnson, who also preceded her in death January 2014. Betty is survived by three children, Sheila (Tom) Nate, Ronald (Rose) Snyder and Marie (Bill Hollihan) Perry; seven grandchildren, Thomas D. Nate, Troy (Kristi) Nate, Tami (Tony) Portolese, Christine (Doug) Ganger, Rona Snyder, Mark A. Perry, Greg (Desiree) Perry; eight great-grandchildren; six sisters, Ruth Barnhart, Margaret Nimtz, Janice Kurz, Ardith (Dave) Mornout, Alice Basham and Jacqueline Tetzlaff; four brothers, Wilbert (Debbie) Tetzlaff, Allen (Sandy) Tetzlaff, Harry (Grace) Tetzlaff and Jerry (Cherrie) Tetzlaff; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Tetzlaff and Juanita Tetzlaff; and her brother-in-law, Daryl Uselman. Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Uselman, and brothers, Raymond Tetzlaff and John Tetzlaff. Betty attended Greene High School and worked at the L & H Inn, Ice House and Wooden Keg. Betty loved and enjoyed her family and decorating. She loved helping others. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. Pastor Greg Crump will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family form 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday. The family would like to thank the staff of LaPorte-IU Medical Center and Darden Home for their great care and wonderful compassion. Contributions in memory of Betty M.
