Lawrence Mackowski's census records indicate that he was born circa 1840 in Prussia, that he emigrated in 1868, and took up farming in Olive Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana. Lawrence Mackowski was first wed to Mary Balcer. According to the 1880 census, Lawrence and Mary were both born in Prussia. Their children included Pella/Pelagia Anya/Anna, John, Frank, William/Wladyslaw/Lot W., & Walace. The interment records of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in New Carlisle, in Olive Township, show that Mary died in 1889.
On Mar. 1, 1897, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Lawrence, son of Paul Mackowski, married Nepomucena Kosmatka Julkowski, a widow. According to the St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church interment records, Nepomucena died Nov. 9, 1904, and on Nov. 11, 1904, was interred in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, Indiana.
In 1910, Lawrence was living with his son, Lot W. Mackowski, in Olive Township. The St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church interment records show that Lawrence died Nov. 28, 1910, and on Dec. 2, 1910, was interred in St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana.
