Jacob was 27 years old and Helena (Minchowska) Janowiak was 20 when the two married in 1875, in Junco, Znin, Poland. Source for wedding date is Poznan Project.

South Bend Tribune, Mon., Oct. 14, 1912, p. 5:
“Mrs. Helen Janowiak, aged 58 years, of 1209 West Thomas street, died Sunday afternoon following an illness of four years. She is survived by five children, Anthony, Stanislaus, Mrs. Bertha Hosinska, Sister Gretchen of the Holy Cross St. Mary’s convent, Woodlawn, Cal., and Miss Leokadia; three sisters, Mrs. George Bukowski, Mrs. Joseph Przybysz, and Mrs. Joseph Nowak, and two brothers [unnamed]. Mrs. Janowiak was prominent in Polish circles of the city. She was a member of the Apostleship of Prayer, the Rosary society, and St. Francis society. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock from St. Hedwige church, Rev. Valentine Czyzewski officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery. "
