SOUTH BEND - Bernice M. Staszewski, 84, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. She was born on September 7, 1931, in New Carlisle, to the late Walter and Mary (Tomkins) Michalski. On October 15, 1960, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, New Carlisle, she married Eugene J. Staszewski, who preceded her in death on September 10, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Maciulski. Bernice is survived by a two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Rothballer and Henrietta Steinhoffer, both of South Bend; 24 nieces and nephews; and by her Godson, Robert Rothballer of South Bend. She was a 1950 graduate of New Carlisle High School, a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the PNA #3078. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church (meet directly at church) with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
