Peggy Ann (Smith) Van De Putte

Peggy Ann Van De Putte, 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Peggy Ann was born on August 26, 1938, in South Bend, IN, as the firstborn of 3 children to the late Willis Smith & Bessie (McClone) Driebilbis. After her father’s death, her mother married the late Dale Driebilbis whom she loved as a father. On June 7, 1958, in South Bend, IN, Peggy married Bob Van De Putte. Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years and her adorable dog, Tara, who meant the world to her after the passing of her husband, Bob. Peggy has 4 daughters, Patty Van De Putte of Pompano Beach, FL, Sandra Brooks of South Bend, Shari Greenawalt of Goshen and Peggy-Sue Johnson who passed away in 2014. Peggy’s girls were her pride and joy. She made sure they went to good schools and loved dressing them in matching outfits as small children. Peggy has 6 grandchildren, Jason Brooks, Ricky Voss, Andrew Van De Putte, Austin Brooks, Ciiarra Greenawalt and Savannah Greenawalt; 6 great-grandchildren, Bentley Brooks, Caylee Lynn Brooks, Lily Voss, Rylee Voss, Kelly Voss and Ava Van De Putte. Peggy was a member of St. Matthew where her girls attended grade school. She was also a member of The Church of God where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Peggy was a devoted mother and she adored her husband. Peggy courageously moved into assisted living after the passing of her husband where she lived out her remaining days.Peggy has as few close friends who should also be mentioned for their love and support throughout the years. Ladies, thank you for being a true friend to Peggy.Per Peggy’s request, there will be no viewing or service at this time. There will be a Celebration of Life sometime in 2021.
