Irene M. Ganus, 87, of Travers Circle, Mishawaka, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on October 11, 2005, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born July 6,1918, in South Bend to Michael and Catherine (Tafelski) Burzynski, who preceded her in death. Irene was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Zygmund Burzynski; and two sisters, Gladys Dabros and Helen Skowronski. Irene married Joseph Ganus on May 28, 1938, who survives, along with daughters, Beverly Pilarski and Charlotte Meller, both of Mishawaka. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Rita Dinn, Michael Pilarski, Greg Meller, Jessica Smith, Charmaine Lange, and Monique DeMaegd; eight great-grandchildren, Dwayne, Nicholas, Brandy, Tiffany, Cecil, Dawn, Brittany, Breanna, and Reese; and two great-great-grandchildren, Riley and Austin. She is also survived by two sisters, Ruth (Stanley) Sparazynski of South Bend and Martha Skodinski of Federal Way, Wash.; and one brother, Ernie (Dorothy) Burzynski of South Bend. Irene was a longtime employee of Huron Pharmacy. She was involved with the Senior Citizens of St. Casimir, the Polish Women Association God and Country Group #335. She was an avid Euchre player and enjoyed gardening and reading. After living in South Bend for 82 years, Joe and Irene relocated to Kenner, LA to live with their daughter, Beverly Pilarski. Due to hurricane Katrina, Joe, Irene and Beverly moved back to the South Bend area on September 2 2005. Visitation will be on Friday October 14, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN 46619. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday October 14, 2005, at 11 a.m. in St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 W.
