SOUTH BEND - Nancy A. DeVan, 75, of South Bend, lost her battle with a recent illness, passing peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017, surrounded by her family. The Anderson native was born November 7, 1941, to Joseph & Mary (Lothammer) Nemeth, and was employed as a courier with Beacon Health. A loving & caring person, Nancy enjoyed travelling with her sister & sister-in-law, caring for her cats, and watching Notre Dame and the Cubs. In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard & James Nemeth. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Missy) Creighton of South Bend; son, Thomas J. Slaby of Madera, CA; sister, Mary Helen Nemeth of Batavia, OH; brothers, Robert (Linda) Nemeth of Naperville, IL, William Nemeth of South Bend; 1 grandson, 1 great-grandson; and several nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Private interment on Thursday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family's preferred memorials are the Center for Hospice, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka IN 46545; or the Humane Society of St. Joseph Co., 2506 Grape Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
