DOWAGIAC - Services for Steve J. Szymonski , 72, of Klumbis Street, who died Wednesday morning at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo after an illness will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Burial will be in Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles. Friends may call from 6 - 9 p.m. today in the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cass and VanBuren Counties.
Mr. Szymonski was owner and operator of Steve's Sand and Gravel Co. He was born Dec. 21, 1923 in Dowagiac. On Jan. 29, 1944, in Buchanan, he married Alice Mosier. She survives with two daughters, Julie Dewey and Pam Krizinski both of Dowagiac; three sons Bob, Mike and Dell all of Dowagiac; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven sisters Rose Newton of Motville, Doris Binchoff of Grand Ledge, Mich., Marie Hemenway and Mary High both of Decatur, Thelma Waldschimdt and Nancy Doh, both of Dowagiac and Margaret Dooley of Elkhart; two brothers, Walter of Princeton, La., and John of New Underwood, S.D.
