LAPORTE - Bernice S. Arndt, 86, of LaPorte, Indiana passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016. She was born July 13, 1929, in LaPorte, Indiana to Anthony and Anna (Glaz) Szawara. On October 28, 1950, Bernice married James W. Arndt who survives. She also leaves behind a daughter, Theresa A. Hawk of LaPorte, Indiana; and a grandson, Andrew Hawk of LaPorte, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy Arndt; four sisters, Mary Supanik, Katherine Salzer, Stella Compton, Jenny Gniadek; and six brothers, Thomas, John, Albert, Joseph, Bruno, and Stanley Szawara. Bernice was a homemaker; a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society; the P.N.A. Rod and Gun Club, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary of LaPorte.Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, ESSLING CHAPEL, 1117 Indiana Ave, LaPorte, Indiana. A Parish Wake service will be at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Ian J. Williams officiating. Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Thursday at ESSLING CHAPEL. Burial will take place in Pine Lake Cemetery.
