SOUTH BEND - Thomas J. Hojnacki, 87, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23rd, in his residence. Thomas was born on December 10, 1920, in South Bend, to Roman and Helen (Zdanowski) Hojnacki. He retired from A.M. General and also had been employed by Studebaker. Tom was a longtime member of the Calvert Rod & Gun Club. On September 1, 1951, in Our Lady of Hungary Church, he married Elizabeth Bojtor, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas (Akemi) Hojnacki of Japan and Bruce (Teri Leuthold) Hojnacki of Mishawaka; a granddaughter, Brittany; and two sisters-in-law, Theresa Hojnacki and Frances Hojnacki, both of South Bend. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Florence Horvath; and by four bothers, Eugene, John, Raymond and Sylvester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
