SOUTH BEND - Michael P. Vargo, 78, residing in South Bend, passed away at 11:20 pm Thursday, January 29, 2015 in Hospice House. He was born September 9, 1936 in South Bend to the late Michael and Helen (Arr) Vargo and has remained a lifelong area resident. In April, 1958 in South Bend, Michael married the former Maureen Madar, who preceded him in death on December 13, 2005. He was also preceded by a son, Mike Vargo. Michael is survived by a daughter, Joanne (Gary) Vida of South Bend; son, Frank Vargo of South Bend; grandchildren, Joseph Vargo, Nathan (Telisha) Vida, Nicholas Vida and Natalie Vida; great-grandchildren, Cassianna Rowles, Elijah Vida and Audrie Maureen Vida; and brother, Richard (Marcia) Vargo, also of South Bend. Michael served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked for the Kemmler Bottling Company in South Bend for 25 years before retiring. There will be no public services. Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
