MISHAWAKA - Maurice A. "Bogie" Bogaert, 84, passed away Friday, May 22nd, in Southfield Village, South Bend. Maurice was born on October 22, 1924, in Mishawaka, as the son of Remi and Irma (Lenoir) Bogaert. He was preceded in death by his parents. On April 19, 1947, in South Bend, he married the former Geraldine Golubski. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine; three sons, Gregory (Nancy) Bogaert, Ricky (Jan) Bogaert and Bradley Bogaert, all of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, Dana (Jerry) Livengood, Courtney Bogaert, Gabrielle Blake, Brian Patrick, Amanda (Bryan) Hardy, Robert (Carey) Koehler and Trina (T.J.) Sult; and 10 great-grandchildren. Maurice was a machinist for Wheel-A-Brator for 20 years until he retired in 1986. He was a lifetime area resident. He and his father owned Bogaert and Son Grocery Store for 25 years in the West End of Mishawaka. Maurice was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, the BK Club and the Democratic Club. He was a past member of DeAmicis and the West End Merchants. He worked for the Mishawaka Parks Department from 1982 until 1994. He was also the "morning" manager of Maury's Pub, Mishawaka, until April 2009. Family and friends may visit on Monday, May 25, from 2 to 7 p.m., with wake prayers at 6:00 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
