Labiszyn (German: Labischin / L©oderitz) is a small town in Znin County, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland, with 4,403 inhabitants (2004). It is located on the Notec river near Znin.
In the early Middle Ages, there existed a fort mentioned in 1247, it was owned by a knight. In the fourteenth century it was in possession Labiszyn Prawdzic family . Thanks to their efforts it received city rights in 1369 year. Seven years later Andrew of Labiszyn Prawdzic coatof arms, became Brzeg-Kujawy governor, built a castle on an island in the branching Notec. Labiszyn name probably comes from Prince Labiszy. In 1407, the city already had its own stamp depicting the coat of wax to the right, open and cut off his hand with the inscription "Labiszyn. You can check in the chronicle of the parish.
In 1410, King Wladyslaw Jagiello passed through the city coming from the Szubin Inowroclaw after the Battle of the Crown. Here he stopped for the night of 2 to 3 November. According to tradition Jagiello planted Labiszynskim two oaks, of WHICH one survived until now. The oak is 5 feet in diameter.
