SOUTH BEND - Mary Mazzone, 96, passed away peacefully December 13, 2013. Born January 8, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Carmella (Bruczessi) Nate. On November 21, 1936, Mary married Frank Mazzone. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were four siblings, Joseph and John Nate and Rose LaPara and Josephine "Babe" Palmer; and two son-in-laws, Joel Welch and Richard Kucela. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Betty Welch of Bristol, IN and Joni Kucela of Mishawaka; one brother, Rocky (Theresa) Nate of South Bend; five grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Welch of Elkhart, Christopher (Jenny) Welch of Union, MI, Brian Rogalski of Mishawaka, Carrie (Ron) Martin of Mishawaka and Nicole (Jeff) Persyn of Osceola and 10 great-grandchildren. Mary was a loving and kind woman who was always doing for others. She was a great cook. She'll be dearly missed by her family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:30 -7:30PM at the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood Dr. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11AM at St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
