SOUTH BEND - Danny L. Wozny is survived by his wife, Doris D. Wozny; daughter, Diane (Dan) Risner of Westland, MI; son, David L. Wozny of Peoria, AZ; 3 grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Weiler and Betty Bennett; and brother, Mike (Regina) Wozny. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wed. at St. John United Church of Christ, Woodland. SOUTH BEND - Danny L. Wozny, 80, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Danny was born on September 22, 1931, in Mishawaka, to the late John and Julia (Fuchs) Wozny. He had remained a lifelong resident. On June 18, 1955, in South Bend, he married the former Doris D. Hicks, who survives. Along with his wife of 56 years, Doris, survivors include his daughter, Diane (Dan) Risner of Westland, MI; son, David L. Wozny of Peoria, AZ; three grandchildren, Scott Risner of Washington, DC, Christopher (fianc©be, Erin) Risner of Farmington Hills, MI, and Kacy Risner of Westland, MI; sisters, Marilyn Weiler and Betty Bennett, both of Lakeville; brother, Mike (Regina) Wozny of Lakeville; and sister-in-law, Onalee Mochel of Woodland. One brother, John Wozny, preceded him in death. In 1952 Danny enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in combat during the Korean Conflict. Danny spent his life working as a salesman. First, for Interstate Distributing Company, and then Wayne Hardware, both of South Bend. In 1987, while employed with the Schafer Company, he was forced into retirement for health reasons. Danny was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, the American Legion and the Madison Township Lions Club. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at St. John United Church of Christ, Woodland. Rev. Jo An Schaetzle will officiate. Military graveside services will follow at St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3-8 p.m. today at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, and one hour prior to services in church on Wednesday. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Miller's Merry Manor of Wakarusa for their excellent care, as well as the love and kindness shown to Danny over the last six years.
