SOUTH BEND - Gertrude C. Prikosovich, 82, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, in Caring Junction, Mishawaka. Gertrude was born on September 14, 1926, in South Bend, to Joseph A. and Josephine (Gadomska) Czuk. She retired from the Indiana and Michigan Power Company, was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, and had been a member of the Michiana Polka Mass Singers. On November 11, 1950, in South Bend, she married Martin "Matt" Prikosovich, who survives. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, including her caregivers, Dennis and Rose Ann Janowiak; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Czuk of South Bend and Anne (Vic) Kuzmic of Oregon. Gertrude was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Janowiak, Henrietta George and Bernice Ganns, and by a brother, John Czuk. Our heartfelt thanks to Jillian and Risa and their wonderful staff at Caring Junction, Inc., for the loving care they gave to Aunt Gertrude. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 13, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Millhouse or to Southern Care Hospice.
