[N34902] Matthew George Kuspa
March 28, 1984 ~ April 21, 2023 (age 39)

Matthew George Kuspa, Esquire, 39, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, after a valiant effort to beat cancer. He was surrounded by family. Matthew was born on March 28, 1984, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, to James and Mary Kuspa. A bright and intellectually curious child, Matthew acted in plays and was a spelling bee and Science Olympiad champion. While attending college, he was president of a student videogaming club that raised funds for cystic fibrosis, leukemia, and breast cancer research. He graduated with honors from Ferris State University in 2006. He moved to Washington, D.C. to work as a paralegal and went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the Francis King Carey School of Law at the University of Maryland in 2014. Matthew passed the bar in Maryland in 2015 and worked in bankruptcy and employment law. His true passion, however, was music and DJing. He moved to Chicago in 2022 to be near his best friend and quickly became part of the city’s thriving house music scene, spinning his extensive vinyl collection for friends and fellow record lovers alike. Matthew is survived by his parents, James and Mary Kuspa of South Bend, IN; his siblings, Rachel McDonald, Justin (and Julie) Kuspa, Ben Kuspa (and Katie Lacey), and Mikah Kuspa; and his best friend, Zaiba Baig. He was supported spiritually by a very large extended family and friends who offered masses, rosaries, and prayers for his healing. Visitation for Matthew will be on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 4-7 pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St, Mishawaka, IN 46544. The Melkite Catholic Burial liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 3:30 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 W 4th St, Mishawaka, IN 46544. The burial will be followed by dinner. Instead of flowers, the family requests that you donate in Matthew’s honor to either St. Joseph’s general fund or Little Flower Catholic Church’s food pantry.
