OSCEOLA - Joann Caenepeel, 82, formerly of Mishawaka, passed peacefully at her daughter's home in Osceola with family by her side. Joann was born July 31, 1931 in South Bend, IN to the late Floyd and Mildred (Bennett) Guyse. On November 12, 1949 Joann married Maurice G. Caenepeel who preceded her in death on October 14, 1983. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Evelyn Van Paemel; her great grandson, Olin Hahn and three nephews. Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Thomas) Buehrle of Hopkinsville, KY, Cynthia Dye of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara Brown (Dennis Podell) of Oscoela, IN and Marc (Lesa) Caenepeel of Goshen. Also surviving is her brother, Robert (Carol) Guyse of North Carolina; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grand children, along with several nieces and nephews. Joann was a 1949 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She loved working and retired from NIPSCO after 37 years as a customer service representative. She then worked part time as a front desk clerk at the Diplomat Motel in Elkhart and part time for Place Builders. She liked spending time working in her flower garden, cookouts, feeding the birds, watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. Above all she loved spending time with her family; she never missed a family gathering Joann was a member of Queen of Peace Parish in Mishawaka. Her family would like to give a special warm "thank you" to Alzheimer's and Dementia Services, Memorial Home Health Care and The Center for Hospice Care and all of their family and friends. Visitation for Joann will be held on Sunday, May 18 from 2 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m., at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W.8th St., Mishawaka. A funeral mass will be held at Queen of Peace Parish in Mishawaka at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, May 19. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617.
