KALAMAZOO - Elizabeth Cukrowicz, 84, is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Martin) Ciesielski; son, Ronald (Diane) Cukrowicz; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Esther Cooper and brothers, Paul (Janet), Daniel (Sharon) and Edward (Marcia) Koehler. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 18, at Southlawn United Methodist Church, 60756 U.S. 31 S. South Bend. Friends may visit from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday in the church. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is handling the arrangements.

SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth Cukrowicz, 84, residing in Kalamazoo, MI, formerly of South Bend, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Rose Arbor Hospice, Kalamazoo, MI. She was born January 20, 1928 in Berrien Springs, Michigan, a daughter of Peter & Margaret (Reitz) Koehler, and moved to South Bend in 1948, coming from Berrien Springs. On September 18, 1948 in South Bend, Liz was united in marriage to Raymond J. "Sugar" Cukrowicz, the love of her life. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing on September 16, 2010. Raymond and Elizabeth were longtime residents of South Bend, where Liz worked at South Bend Toy Company, until moving to Kalamazoo in 2005 to be closer to their family. Liz is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Martin) Ciesielski of Mattawan, MI; her son, Ronald (Diane) Cukrowicz of Marietta, GA; and four granddaughters, Cory (Nicholas) Maar, Jodi (Jason Maycock) Ciesielski, Christine (Christopher) Horne, and Kelly (Ryan Williams) Cukrowicz. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Adelaide Williams and Mikayla & Michael Horne, a sister, Esther Cooper of Berrien Springs, and three brothers, Paul (Janet) Koehler of St. Joseph, MI, Daniel (Sharon) Koehler of Irons, MI, and Edward (Marcia) Koehler of St. Joseph, MI. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Koehler. While living in South Bend, Liz was a member of P.N.A. (Polish National Alliance), Chippewa Fun Club, and attended Southlawn United Methodist Church. She loved to quilt, knit, paint, play cards, bowl, travel, walk, and was an avid reader. Liz loved spending time with her many friends, and above all else, she loved her family and being with them. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Southlawn United Methodist Church, 60756 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, where the family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Ron Dixon will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
