South Bend - Rita M Imel, 65, passed away August 18, 2016 in Memorial Hospital with her family beside her.Rita was born December 20, 1950 in South Bend, to the late Leonard and Eleanor Mrozinski. Rita was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Lewandowski. On December 21, 1968, Rita married her loving husband of 45 years, William Imel. She is survived by her husband William; son, Tony (Melissa) Imel; daughter, Tammie Ross; Grandsons, Tyler, Noah and Evan; brothers, Hillary, Leonard, Ray and Mallary Mrozinski; and sisters, Leona Jerzakowski and Donna Morris. Rita worked for G.L. Perry for 17 years, till the store closed, then was employed by the South Bend Community School Corporation for 17 years until she retired. Rita was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and kept a very clean house. She liked gardening, making floral arrangements and loved cuddling with her dogs. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Death came following a fall from a ladder in her home
