Marie C. Jagodzinski
Jan. 24, 1921 - June 17, 2006
As of Saturday afternoon we now have a new angel above. Our beloved Mom, Busia and Great-grandma joined our dad in heaven and will now be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary together on July 4, 2006. Marie C. Jagodzinski, 85, formerly of North Wellington Street, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2006, in Saint Joseph Care Center. Marie was born to the union of Teofil and Cecilia (Nika) Lorence on January 24, 1921. On July 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ernest T. "Bud" Jagodzinski in St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend. Together they raised four daughters, Theresa (Art) Sleeter, Mary Ann (Chuck) Piechocki, Mary Lou (Bob) Borlik, all of South Bend, and Rose Ann (Rich) Benassi of Mishawaka. They all survive along with a sister, Lucille Wroblewski; nine grandchildren, Scott (LaRae) Sleeter, Robb (Patty) Piechocki, Jason (Nicci) Sleeter, Becky (Erik) Lundry, Ryan, Mike and Matt Benassi, Sarah and Jonathan Borlik; three great-grandsons, Tyler and Jacob Ritchie (Sleeter), and Andy Piechocki. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; along with five brothers, Zygment, Harry, Vince, Stanley "Breezy" and Eugene "Carpey;" and four sisters, Sophie, Josie, Helen and Irene. She was a founding parishioner of St. John the Baptist Parish and a member of the Rosary Sodality. She loved attending the Living Rosary started by Fr. Jacob on Wednesday evenings at St. John the Baptist. No one who entered her home was treated like a stranger; they were part of our family. She always had time for a cup of coffee, especially Sunday morning with her family. Her greatest love was being the best Mom, Busia and Great-grandma in the world. A special thanks to the staff of Saint Joseph Care Center; and we would like to thank two special angels, Brenda L. and Pat G. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, June 20, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 21, at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be sent to www.sjfh.net.
