SOUTH BEND - Julia Sima, 91, passed away in St. Joseph Regional Center, Mishawaka, Indiana, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. She was born in Gai, Yugoslavia, to the late Joseph Sr. and Veronica (Dobranski) Badar. She married Victor Sima Sr. in Saltzburg, Austria, in 1947, who preceded her in death in 1982. Julia was also preceded in death by a sister, Sister Bogamila (Franciscan Order), and her two brothers, Joseph Badar Jr. and Victor Badar. Julia is survived by her sister, Sister M. Raphael, F.D.C., of Long Island, New York; and two sons, Victor Sima Jr. and Joseph (Bonnie) Sima of South Bend, Indiana. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Anita Swope and Adam Sima, as well as a great-grandchild, Cecila Swope. Julia is also survived by nieces, Mary Shuler and Monica (John) Hehl, and a nephew, Anthony Badar. Julia worked in nursing care at St. Mary's Convent Infirmary, Notre Dame, Indiana, for over 25 years, and continued to volunteer as a nursing caregiver well into her retirement years. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, January 24, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. A Catholic Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart and Stroke Association or to the American Cancer Society .Published in South Bend Tribune on Jan. 24, 2014
