Joseph L. Meyer

Joseph L. Meyer, 83, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 11:28 pm Friday, December 13, 2013 in Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend. He was born July 16, 1930 in Kansas City, MO to the late Frank and Gertrude (Woolf) Meyer. On November 13, 1954 in Immaculate Conception Church, East Chicago, IN, Joe married the former Mary Segreto, who preceded him in death on April 2, 2011. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Frank and John Meyer. Joe is survived by his daughter, Carol (Dave) Arch of Mishawaka; sons, Robert W. (Deborah) Meyer of Elkhart, Thomas J. (Susan) Meyer of Madison, AL and Joseph T. Meyer of Florida; grandchildren, Teri (Ashley) Thompson, Sean Arch, and Matthew (Marissa), Michael (Anna), Mary, Joseph, Pimchanok, Kevin, Sandra, Daniel and Kaitlyn Meyer; as well as great grandchildren, Jordon and Dylan. He is also survived by one sister, Beth Carson of Arizona; and one brother, Jim (Phyllis) Meyer of Denver, CO. Joe served his country honorably in the United State Navy. He worked as a mortgage manager for many financial institutions before retiring. He was also a longtime member of St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, December 23, 2013 in St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46635. Military graveside services will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 - 11:00 am Monday in church prior to mass. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe may be donated to St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church.
