South Bend- John M. Deitsch, 70, of South Bend passed away on Wednesday April 19, 2023 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born on January 22, 1953 in South Bend to Delois and Renatta (Kochanowski) Deitsch. He was a graduate of Jackson High School class of 1971 and worked for the South Bend Community School Corporation in Building and Grounds he also was the Facilities manager for Holy Cross College before retiring. He loved camping, Nascar, Notre Dame football and traveling to Florida for the winter making many great friends at Rose Bay in Port Orange. John met and later married Catherine Barcome on September 30, 1989. They shared 33 years of marriage together. John is survived by his wife; Catherine Deitsch, his mother Renatta Deitsch, step-son; Michael (Amanda) Marnocha of Northville, MI and grandchildren; Emily, Lauren, and Zachary and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his father’ Delois Deitsch. Visitation for John will be held from 4pm-7pm on Sunday April 23, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Homes-Guisinger Chapel; 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday April 24, 2023 at St. Matthew, 1701 Miami St. South Bend.
