Christopher Pat Hiemstra, age 67, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in the comfort of his family’s presence. He was born December 25, 1950 in Dowagiac, Michigan the second oldest of seven sons born to Raymond and Ann Hiemstra. Chris loved fishing and hunting. He was definitely a Detroit Tigers fan - he would watch the game live and then watch it again when it was repeated. He was a long time rock ‘n’ roller, especially the Eagles. Chris’ family remembers that he stayed quiet, but when he had something to say it was significant. Chris will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Brandi (Randy) Steele of Three Rivers; one grandson, Korbin Steele; three brothers, Michael (Charlene) Hiemstra of Cassopolis, Jeffrey Hiemstra of Cassopolis, Peter (Sharon) Hiemstra of Radcliff, Kentucky; two sisters in law, Debbie Hiemstra of Donalsonville, Georgia, Shirley Hiemstra of Lansing; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, David Hiemstra, Russell Hiemstra, and Timothy Hiemstra. Family and friends will gather Saturday, September 8, 2018 at a time to be announced at his daughter’s residence when the family will plant a tree in his memory.
