Eugene “Gene” Donald Morawski, Sr, 58, of Nappanee, formerly of Oakwood, Ohio, passed away at 7:00 am, October 18, 2021 in his home. Gene was born on March 26, 1963 to the late Frank and JoAnn Morawski in Elmhurst, Illinois. On September 4, 1982, Gene married Carla Sue Densmore and together they had three children, Deana (Joshua) Miller of Goshen, Eugene (Jennifer) Morawski Jr of Wyatt, and Nathan (Rebecca) Morawski of Nappanee. Gene also has another daughter Crystal Morawski of Defiance, Ohio. Gene always said “I make a better grandpa than I ever did a dad.” He was blessed with thirteen grandchildren; Cody, Karli, Kayli, and Cory Miller, Michael Rolf, Mallory and Johnny Hurley, Mya Morawski, Braxton Morawski, Heaven Forsythe, Aubrie Morawski, Nathan Morawski Jr, and Hunter Morawski. He is also survived by five siblings, Frank (Vicki) Morawski of Defiance, Ohio; Anthony Morawski of Illinois; Mary Shaffer of Defiance, Ohio; Patricia White of Defiance, Ohio and Debora (Rich) Adams of South Bend, Indiana. Gene was also blessed with many nieces and nephews that loved and cherished him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and JoAnn Morawski; brother-in-law’s, Mark Willborn, Roger Shaffer, and Doug White; sister-in-law Darlene Morawski; and niece Wendi Morawski. Gene worked construction all his life starting with Kahle Builders in Ohio and then moved to Elkhart, Indiana working at Bayview Builders. He ended his career with Cross-Cut wood shop in Bremen. Visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 pm, Saturday, October 30, 2021 in Bremen Church of God, 5040 1st Rd, Bremen, IN 46506. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm in the church. Pastor Jaree Kratzer will officiate. Cremation will follow. A casual dress code is requested because Gene wasn’t a fancy dressing guy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with expenses or Center for Hospice, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawka, IN 46545.
