SOUTH BEND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, September 22, 2014, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-7 Sunday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. Leo R. Smigielski, 83, passed away at 3:35pm Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Southfield Village. Leo was born on September 24, 1930 in South Bend to John and Anna (Odynski) Smigielski. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Leo retired in 1993 from Sibley's Machine and Foundry. He was a huge Notre Dame and Cubs fan and enjoyed baking. On June 1, 1957 in South Bend he married the former Margaret Arch who survives. Also surviving are two daughters Ann (Bret) Brock of North Liberty and Mary (Dino) Dunn of South Bend; a son Leo J. Smigielski of Casselberry, FL; 5 grandchildren Shannon (Patrick) Rose, Alyssa Dunn, D. Jared Dunn, Amber (Corey) Stovall and Antony Smigielski; 2 great-grandchildren Gavin Rose and Samantha Rose and a sister Gloria Rzepnicki of South Bend. Leo was preceded in death by a daughter Carol M. Smigielski, grandson Tyler Brock, three sisters Esther Kaczmarek, Sylvia Jaro and Dolores Farrington and a brother Ben Smigelski.
